The Arc Caddo-Bossier Invites Community to Lace Up for the Annual Go for the Gold 5K & ½ Mile Fun Run

SHREVEPORT, LA — February 20, 2026 — The Arc Caddo-Bossier is proud to announce the return of its beloved annual Go for the Gold 5K & ½ Mile Fun Run, set for Saturday, March 21, 2026, at A.C. Steere Park, 4009 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA. The event will kick off with the ½ Mile Fun Run at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8:15 a.m.

This community tradition brings together runners and supporters of all ages and abilities for a morning of fitness, fun, and inclusion — all in support of The Arc Caddo-Bossier's Goldman School and Child Development Centers. Participants will enjoy a flat and fast course winding through the scenic Broadmoor neighborhood, beginning and ending at A.C. Steere Park. Overflow parking is available across the street at Broadmoor Baptist Church.

"The Go for the Gold race is more than just a run — it is a celebration of the children, families, and community we are so privileged to serve every day," said LaShanda Davis, M.Ed., Director of Children's Services for the Goldman School and Child Development Centers & Early Head Start at The Arc Caddo-Bossier. "Every step taken on March 21st helps us continue providing the inclusive, nurturing environment that gives our youngest learners the foundation they need to thrive. We invite everyone in the Shreveport-Bossier community to come out, run with us, and be part of something truly meaningful."

All registered participants will receive a Go for the Gold t-shirt. Shirts must be ordered by February 25th to be guaranteed. Extra shirts and standalone shirt purchases are also available through the registration site.

Packet Pick-Up & Carb Loading Party

Kick off race weekend in style! On Friday, March 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., join fellow runners at Rotolo's Pizza Craft & Crust (1409 E. 70th St., Unit 129, Shreveport, LA 71105) for a Packet Pick-Up & Carb Loading Party. Whether you need to grab your race packet, still want to register, or simply want to fuel up with some great food and good company the night before the race, this is the place to be!

Race packets can also be collected at Sportspectrum on the following dates:

  • Thursday, March 19 — 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • Friday, March 20 — 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (or join us at Rotolo's that evening from 5:00–9:00 p.m.!)

  • Race morning, March 21 — beginning at 7:00 a.m. at the race site

Awards

Top finishers in the 5K will be recognized with:

  • 1st Place Overall Male & Female — $250 Visa Gift Card (each)

  • 2nd Place Overall Male & Female — $100 Visa Gift Card (each)

  • 1st & 2nd Place Male & Female awards in the following age groups: 19-under, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, and 70+

  • Finisher prizes for the first 300 finishers
