Northern Exposure 2025
Representing Northwest Louisiana at Northern Exposure 2025
The Arc Caddo-Bossier was represented at Northern Exposure 2025 on Tuesday, May 6, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The annual event, hosted by the Greater Shreveport Chamber, brings together community leaders from Northwest Louisiana to engage directly with state lawmakers and policymakers. Badreka Harper, Administrative Operations Manager at The Arc, attended as part of the Greater Shreveport Leadership Program. Harper completed the program in 2024 and now serves on the Leadership Advisory Board as a Junior Coordinator, helping to guide and support the current class.
Throughout the day, attendees visited the State Capitol and took part in a series of policy discussions and presentations. Governor Jeff Landry delivered a detailed address focused on driving economic development, reducing taxes, and reforming Louisiana’s insurance landscape. Department heads also provided updates on key issues such as education, infrastructure (DOTD projects), and agriculture—topics that directly impact communities across Northwest Louisiana.
Participants met with several elected officials representing Northwest Louisiana during a session held at the State Library. These included Representatives Dennis Bamburg, Larry Bagley, Steven Jackson, and Senator Thomas Pressly. The opportunity to engage with legislators allowed the group to hear firsthand about current legislative efforts and priorities impacting the region. The day underscored the value of maintaining strong connections with state decision-makers to ensure the region’s needs remain front and center.
