Hello Family and Friends of The Arc Caddo-Bossier!
We would like to celebrate the real MVP of Summer... our AC units. It's sweltering outside, but we are looking forward to cooler days ahead. Until those temperatures drop under 100, we will be busy INSIDE building unlimited opportunities for people with disabilities. Check out some of the things we have been up to this August, and see some of the amazing things we have coming up in September/October.

Gigi is introduced to Gigi. |
We love moments like this! Our office mural received a special guest when Gigi, a graduate of The Arc Caddo-Bossier's Goldman School and Child Development Centers came to see it for the first time! Her family dropped by to surprise Gigi with it, while her grandmother, Melody Wheeler, introduced us to her new book She's Just Gigi.

The Arc Caddo-Bossier's annual Leadership Luncheon celebrates civic leaders, donors, and our mission of building unlimited opportunities for people with disabilities. This year's keynote speaker, Dani Bowman, champions that same mission through her advocacy for inclusion.
|
Diagnosed with autism at age three and nonverbal until six, Dani found her voice through animation. At 14, she founded DaniMation, a social enterprise teaching animation and creating career pathways for neurodivergent youth and young adults, reaching over 3,500 students to date.

The Global Leadership Summit |
Eaerlier this month The Arc Caddo-Bossier attended the Global Leadership Summit - First United Methodist Church Shreveport. The Global Leadership Summit (GLS) is designed to inspire and equip people across business, church, and non-profit sectors. It reaches hundreds of thousands of global attendees across more than 100 countries. Our team gained amazing insights on being a leader. We can't wait to implement these ideas into our days.

We had a great time at the 17th Annual Therapeutic Inclusion Carnival put on by SPAR at Princess Park. Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation has always been a big supporter of people with disabilities, and this city is so lucky to have them. If there is a SPAR event, you know you will find The Arc Caddo-Bossier nearby!!! |

Happy Halloween??? Our Community Life Engagement group took to the stores for some early Halloween shopping now that Spirit Halloween has opened it's doors. We were prepared for frights and fun! If you have a business or experience that our CLE group should check out, leave a comment! We are always looking for new places to visit.

Row and/or Run at this year's Paddlefest. |
Join us for The Arc Caddo-Bossier’s Biennial GREAT 5K & Paddlefest! Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Fox Creek Farms, 11958 Ellerbe Road. Live music, a post-race party, drinks, and food from Ki’ Mexico. 5K starts at 8:00 AM, Paddlefest at 9:15 AM. $35 for the 5K or Paddlefest alone, $50 for both, $15 for the Post Race Party (free with 5K/Paddlefest registration). Register before September 19 for the best price. Everyone gets a Paddlefest t-shirt. Mark your calendars and join us at the starting line October 3rd. We can’t wait to see you there. |

Staff Training at The Arc Caddo-Bossier |

No one wants to spend all day in meetings, but we try to make our staff trainings an experience. Last week at the James Conly Center, our team covered caregiver fatigue/resilience and person-centered planning, while Ms. Karen led a painting experience to round out the day. We're going to need a bigger fridge to display all these works of art! |
